Jeff Wheaton

On his first solo songwriting project, Jeff Wheaton is kinda playing around in Jeff Tweedy’s sandbox, and he’s having a great time. Jeff has played in various bands for decades (Cutter John, Smiley, Heavy Meadows, Jill Barber) and is an award-winning cinematographer for film & television. Based in Halifax, NS, Jeff hopes these songs will give you some company on long road trips, call you on your bullshit once and awhile, and stick to your sonic ribs.

Aching and funny, astute and tuneful, Jeff has written a sonic novella with singalong choruses: six songs about well-meaning every-dudes wrapping their heads around WTF just happened to them here in the 21st century. 

Like six short movies with an alt-country soundtrack, Jeff Wheaton is sizing up his very particular generation of men: lost, latchkey boys, startled to discover they’re middle-aged, but still fumbling to locate the better versions of themselves. 

These songs are wry, dry, hummable ditties with cheerful hooks and an incisive undertow—like novelist Tom Perotta picked up a resonator guitar and spent time jamming with Kurt Vile.
